CSEA-BARMM taps BIG for Social Enterprise Development in Bangsamoro Region 1

Bayan Innovation Group (BIG) and the Cooperative and Social Enterprise Authority – BARMM (CSEA-BARMM) recently signed a memorandum of understanding to promote the viability of social enterprises in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

Under the MOU, BIG and CSEA-BARMM will form a partnership to establish BARMM as a partner regional social laboratory for the National Social Enterprise Development Roadmap (SE Roadmap) for the development, sustenance, and growth of CSEA-BARMM's social enterprises.. BIG and CSEA-BARMM entered this partnership for the co-implementation of the program Tatak SE^TM for BARMM Peace and Prosperity, which will help the latter realize its objectives by leveraging on the networks and collaboration brought by BIG through the SE Roadmap initiatives.

In addition to establishing BARMM as a regional social laboratory, this partnership aims to mobilize SE roadmap partners towards developing BARMM SEs and generating inclusive and sustainable employment and livelihood that promotes social cohesion in BARMM.

Throughout this partnership, BIG shall provide training and mentoring support, develop BARMM Roadmap for SE development, and provide technical assistance for implementing strategies and action programs for the resulting BARMM Roadmap for SE Development.

This partnership is significant as this will place CSEA-BARMM as the model region in the SE roadmap, which will be a strategic venue for promoting social enterprise in community development; providing support and assistance to social enterprises; delivering capacity development and access to training for social entrepreneurs; and promoting mentoring and funding opportunities.

Moreover, this partnership will assist in fulfilling CSEA's mandate of enabling social enterprises to develop into viable and responsive economic enterprises and be a platform for poverty reduction and BIG's vision of championing social entrepreneurship toward nation-building.

The National SE Roadmap, where BIG serves as a co-secretariat, is a 5-year multi-sectoral and nationwide strategic plan to advance social entrepreneurship in the Philippines. BIG is part of the Bayan Family of Foundations, an ecosystem of foundations that provides end-to-end holistic solutions for social enterprises from inspiration to implementation.
